About CSI

Creative Safety Initiatives (CSI) is an ACT based organisation committed to a continuing focus on improving safety standards in the building and construction industry. Through training and industry consultation, CSI hopes to reduce the number and the severity of accidents in the workplace.

CSI aims to accommodate the busy schedules of the building and construction industry through flexible training delivery modes. Most training can be conducted at your workplace and at a time that is suitable for your organisation.

Creative Safety Initiatives represents a group of dedicated individuals who are committed to creating safe work environments and safe communities for workers. Through the provision of education, CSI aims to encourage harm reduction and attitudinal change in regards to safety in the workplace.

Our Staff

Jason Jennings


JJ has been involved within the construction training arena since 2004. He commenced as a trainer with CSI and was initially conducting the “Drug and Alcohol Program” . Over the years, he has diversified and ultimately became the CEO of CSI in 2007.

Jess Ruffy (nee Dean)

Operations Manager ACT

Jess came from an AAC (Australian Apprenticeships Centre) and has been involved within the training sector since 2006. Jess started with CSI in 2009 commencing as the receptionist and data entry operator. Since then she has broadened her skills and is now an integral part of the leadership team.

Anthony Vitler

Operations Manager NSW

Tony has been involved with the construction industry for 20 years. He is an electrician by trade and has an extensive background of Work Health and Safety. Tony started as a trainer with CSI in 2009 and, after spending some time within the WHS area, he has returned to CSI as the Business Development Manager/Operations Manager.

Haley McGuire

Compliance Officer

Haley worked in the Early Education sector directing services for over 11 years. Haley has a sight and sound knowledge of Compliance and an eye for detail. Haley joined the CSI team as a Compliance Officer in 2020.

Colleen Dahl

Office Administrator

Having also completed Secretarial College, Colleen joined CSI in 2018 and with her experience coordinating and supporting daily operations and administrative functions, Colleen is the main point of contact for CSI customers.



Diane Vanderdong

Office Administrator

Having completed secretarial college, Diane joined CSI in 2012 with a strong background in customer service and data entry. Diane has run her own business and settled in Canberra from country NSW. Diane is one of two points of contact for CSI customers.



Duncan Bennett Burleigh

Training Officer

Duncan has worked in the building and construction industry for over 30 Years. Duncan started with the CSI team in 2011 as a trainer.



Andrew Leggett

Training Officer

Andy has worked in the building, construction and mining industry for over 14 years. With a background of mining and training, Andy has joined the CSI team as a training officer in 2019.



Grant Brewer

Training Officer

Grant has an extensive range of skills, from conducting Assessments, training, work and safety procedures being a Hydraulic worker to completing his Diploma of Youth Services and operating his own successful plumbing business. Grant joined the CSI team in 2020 as a Trainer.



Brian Smith

Training Officer

Brian comes to CSI with over 16 years’ experience working in Youth Protection and the broader community as a field Officer. Workplace health and Safety has always been a priority for Brian. Brian became a trainer for CSI in 2021.
